Chinese character 䔟

4384/6592

䔟 describes soft grass movement in classical Chinese, especially in 萎䔟. Later dictionaries compare it with expressions for grain, trees, and flowers. Alone, it gives little clue to a sender’s intent.

Text symbol

What 䔟 means

It describes grass swaying softly.

The 《說文解字》, a Chinese character dictionary, records 䔟 in 萎䔟. Its traditional analysis gives 艸 the grass meaning and 移 a sound role. Zhu Junsheng, a Chinese dictionary writer in the Qing dynasty, compares that movement with 倚移 for grain, 檹施 for trees, and 猗儺 for flowers.

Classical and literary, with an image of softly moving grass.

Alone, it says little about the sender’s intent.
