What 䘓 means
It means blood that has thickened until it sets, especially sheep blood.
The Shuowen Jiezi, a Chinese dictionary compiled around 100 CE, gives the earliest known gloss: sheep blood that has set. Later glosses also use 䘓 for blood soup and link it to 䐄.
Why does 䘓 show as a box?
A square or blank usually means the font lacks this glyph.
A fallback font may draw 䘓 differently; the display changes, not the character.
Rare and literary; expect it in dictionaries or historical writing.
Alone in a message, it may look like a typo or missing glyph.

Questions people ask
1Why does 䘓 show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the CJK Unified Ideographs Extension A block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
