What 䟊 means
It means a small step or hop, or “to transgress.” The earliest named witness in this dictionary trail is the Yupian, an early Chinese dictionary compiled around 543; the version passed down later was revised. The Guangyun, another Chinese dictionary that also records pronunciations, was compiled in 1007–1008 and gives the small-step sense. The Kangxi Dictionary also lists “a small hop” and “to transgress,” meaning to cross a boundary or break a rule.
Traditional dictionaries file it under the 走 (“walking/movement”) radical. That fits the small-step gloss; the surrounding sentence helps decide whether 䟊 means a step, a hop, or transgression in a particular passage.
A dictionary-register character; alone in a message, it does not show which sense is intended.
A bare 䟊 leaves its dictionary senses open; use the sentence around it.
