What 䠮 means
It is an old respelling of 騰, not a separate word.
The earliest dictionary record of this exact form is 《字彙》, a Ming-era character dictionary printed in 1615, cited by Taiwan’s Ministry of Education. It describes 䠮 as the foot component 足 plus a shortened 騰 — a respelling of one word, not a new coinage.
The parent 騰 (téng) already stood in 《說文解字》, the foundational Han-dynasty character dictionary, glossed “to transmit” and “a gelded horse”; later senses run to galloping, leaping, and soaring — the root of modern 腾飞, “take off.” Separately, a 2023 collection of sayings in Hakka, a major southern Chinese dialect, from the town of Ba Hou in Guangdong writes 䠮 for “follow”: 䠮父母 “follow one’s parents,” 䠮大众 “go with the crowd.”
Archaic or dialect register — it marks old text, a cited variant, or Hakka writing, never neutral modern Chinese.
Substituting it for 騰 in modern text reads as an error or a deliberate archaism.

Questions people ask
2Why does 䠮 look different on my device?
Font support. Rare ideographs are drawn by whichever installed font covers them, so the same 䠮 can look different — or show as an empty box — across devices.
Is 䠮 used in Japanese or Korean?
No standard reading there. Its documented homes are old Chinese dictionaries and Ba Hou Hakka writing; no established Japanese or Korean use is documented as of 2026.
