What 亄 means
It means “greedy and stingy” for a person; 亄費 describes patterned silk.
An old Chinese dictionary of regional words, Fangyan, records 亄 for someone who is greedy but reluctant to give, in usage associated with the regions called Jing, Ru, Jiang and Xiang. In Zuo Si's classical poem Wu Du Fu, 亄費 is glossed as the look of patterned silk, like brocade.
The earliest named dictionary witness is the Yupian, compiled around 543. Later dictionaries that also record the character include Longkan, Guangyun and Jiyun.
How do I type 亄?
Use Mandarin Pinyin or a shape-based Chinese input method.
In a Mandarin Pinyin input method, enter yì and select 亄; many characters share the same reading, so selection can take extra steps.
For Cangjie input, use GTU; for Wubi input, use FPGN. Both are shape-based Chinese input methods. A font without 亄 may show a missing-glyph box or another fallback shape.
Rare and literary; its documented uses come from dictionaries and classical writing.
