What 墍 means
墍 is a variant form of 塈 with several classical senses.
The early Chinese character dictionary Shuowen Jiezi explains 塈 as plastering overhead: coating the underside of a roof with earthen plaster. It identifies 土 as the material marker and 旣 as the sound-bearing part. The classic Shangshu uses 塈 in a building passage. The Book of Songs, an early poetry collection, uses the variant for taking or gathering something and for rest.
Classical and dictionary-focused; the sentence supplies the sense.
A bare 墍 cannot choose among its classical senses.

Questions people ask
1Why does 墍 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
