What 奬 means
It can mean “encourage” or “praise,” or name a prize. In Chinese, it can work as a verb or as a noun.
The Zihui, a Chinese dictionary, records 奬 as a variant of 獎. Older dictionary explanations describe 獎 as urging a dog onward; later senses include supporting, praising, and rewarding.
It marks a variant spelling choice in Chinese praise-and-reward vocabulary, not a different level of enthusiasm.
奬 uses 大 where 獎 uses 犬; that component change does not make it a different word.
