What 妿 means
妿 was a historical Chinese term for a woman teacher. The Shuowen Jiezi, a classical Chinese dictionary, analyzes it as 女 加 and defines it as 女師 (“woman teacher”); later dictionaries organized by rhyme preserve that gloss. Traditional commentary says the teacher instructed women in conduct, speech, appearance, and work, and compares the role with 阿 and 傅姆, old terms for female attendants. 妿 has a bookish, historical register.
Chinese, Japanese, and Korean fonts can draw 妿 with different regional outlines. A change in the strokes may come from the font, while the underlying character remains 妿.

Questions people ask
1Why does 妿 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
