What 帞 means
An old Chinese word for a cloth head covering.
An early glossary of regional Chinese speech, 方言, records 絡頭 in western regions and 帞头 in the south, in the historical regions of Chu and Jiang-Xiang.
A later Chinese rhyme dictionary, 廣韻, gives “headscarf” as its short gloss; later dictionaries also call it 邪巾, a cloth wrapped at an angle. The covering was wrapped around the head from back to front. In the related term 袹頭, the cloth is worn for mourning.

Questions people ask
1Why does 帞 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
