What 庨 means
Its earliest cited appearance is in a Han-era poem.
Ma Rong’s 《长笛赋》 is a long, ornate poem about the flute. Its phrase 庨窌 describes hollows among cliffs and valleys: the character describes space rather than naming a particular object.
Later dictionaries use 庨 for buildings that are high and deep; 庨豁 extends that sense to open spaces in architecture and landscapes.
Literary and archaic; alone, 庨 needs a gloss or a surrounding compound.

1Why does 庨 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
