What 彏 means
It means quickly drawing a bowstring taut. 彏 names the action, not the bow.
The earliest known gloss appears in the Han-era Shuowen Jiezi, an early Chinese dictionary. It explains 彏 as 弓 for “bow” plus sound-bearing 矍. A Han-era Hanshu (Book of Han) passage uses 彏 for drawing a mighty bow; a Japanese kanji reference records the same action.
