What 彚 means
彚 is a variant of 彙 with the same core meaning.
It can mean “collect,” “category,” or “group.” 彙 is the familiar form, including in Japanese and Korean 語彙 (“vocabulary”).
A Han-era dictionary, Shuowen Jiezi, describes the older character family through a hedgehog-like animal. A Zhouyi passage uses it for “kind”; later senses include collecting and classifying.
