What 揕 means
It means “to strike or stab” in classical Chinese.
The Warring States Strategies (戰國策), a collection of historical accounts, describes the would-be assassin Jing Ke (荊軻) planning to seize a sleeve and thrust at a chest. The Han-era Records of the Grand Historian (史記), a history book, retells the episode.
A Han-era bamboo manuscript also writes 揕舆 as a sound-based form of 堪舆, a traditional system for interpreting landforms and choosing sites. Hokkien dictionaries record 揕 with the sense “throw” or “hurl.”
How do I type 揕?
