What 枎 means
A tree name, spreading branches, or calyx.
Shuowen Jiezi, a Chinese dictionary presented in 121 CE, glosses 枎疏 as spreading branches; Guanzi, a text on governance and farming, lists 枎 as a tree.
The 木 component means wood; 夫 supplies the sound. 枎 is a variant of 柎, the flower’s calyx. The usual Chinese spelling is 扶疏; Japanese dictionaries record 枎疎, read fu-so (ふそ), for spreading branches.
