What 槊 means

It names a weapon and can set a literary scene. The earliest dictionary record is an appended entry in 《说文解字》, an early Chinese character dictionary; it glosses 槊 as a long spear. In the Chinese poet Su Shi’s 《赤壁赋》, an ode about the Red Cliffs, 横槊赋诗 means composing poetry while holding a spear; the image recalls a hero’s rise and life’s impermanence.

Japanese dictionaries also record 槊 for a backgammon board. Korean records use 槊木 for wood used in carts, boats, and bows.

1

Why does 槊 show as a box on some devices?

Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
