What 橧 means
In 槧巢, 槧 names a nest-shaped shelter built from firewood. 《礼记·礼运》, a classic text on ritual, contrasts winter caves with summer nest-dwellings. A later commentator, Zheng Xuan, says people piled wood and lived on top; this is a traditional account, not an archaeological date.
Taiwan's Ministry of Education notes in 2024 that 槧 is absent from 《说文解字》, an early character dictionary, but appears in later works such as 《玉篇》 and 《集韵》. Lexicons also give a separate gloss: a place where a pig sleeps.
Classical and specialist; outside 槧巢, add a short gloss.

Questions people ask
1Why does 橧 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
