What 滂 means
It describes heavy, flowing water in literary Chinese. 滂沱 is heavy rain; 滂湃 is surging water. Alone, 滂 sounds bookish.
An early attestation appears in the Book of Songs, an early Chinese poetry collection: “月離于畢,俾滂沱矣”. 滂 pairs the water element with 旁 as a sound clue. Historical dictionaries also record a water name, overflow, tears, and a borrowed “boat” sense.
Literary; usually found in compounds about rain or surging water.
A text character; its font determines its shape, not emoji artwork.

2Questions people ask
1Why does 滂 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
