What 璲 means
An auspicious jade pendant worn at the belt. As of 2026-09-10, its earliest known written use is the Book of Songs line 鞙鞙佩璲. The commentary reads 佩璲 as wearing such jade and rebukes officials for display without merit.
A note on Shuowen Jiezi, an ancient Chinese dictionary, links 璲 to its pendant cord, also written 繸. In Qin–Han dress, 綬 was a silk belt ribbon that took over some roles of older jade regalia.
Classical and specific: it names jade regalia, not jade in general.
In ordinary writing, 璲 sounds archival, not like 玉, the broad word for jade.

1Why does 璲 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
