What 甝 means
甝 means “white tiger.” The Erya, an early Chinese glossary, lists it as an animal name. Modern dictionaries also list a figurative sense, “savage.”
The Shuowen Jiezi, an early Chinese character dictionary, glosses 䖑 as “white tiger” and identifies 䖔 with 甝. A later compendium places 甝 beside 騶虞, an auspicious white tiger with black markings. Tang poet Li Bai also uses 甝 in verse.
Classical and bookish; using it alone reads as a deliberate literary reference.
