What 畐 means
It means “full”; what its oldest shape depicts is disputed.
Forms are associated with the Shang and Western Zhou. 《說文解字》, an early Chinese dictionary, defines 畐 as “full” and links its shape to 高, meaning “high.” Another reading sees a wine vessel, perhaps a 瓿, an ancient wine jar. Later lexicons also record a sense of bodily fullness.
