What 瞛 means
A flash or glint in the eyes.
The earliest cited use appears in Zhang Xie's Western Jin fu 七命, a literary rhapsody: 怒目电瞛 describes angry eyes flashing like lightning.
Later, 瞛 appears in the personal name 孟瞛 from the Song period and in a portrait account by the Qing writer Mao Qiling. In 孝子瞛其目, the eyes catch light and look alert; both examples keep its literary eye-glint sense.
Literary and archaic; it also appears in a historical personal name.
A lone 瞛 is not a standard anger signal as of 2026; ask the sender what they meant.

Questions people ask
1Why does 瞛 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
