What 磂 means
It is recorded for sulfur and a regional iron pot.
Chinese dictionaries record 磂 as a variant of 硫 for sulfur and as a form of 鎦 for an iron pot, with the stone component 石 in place of the metal component 金. In Mandarin, the syllable sounds roughly like “lyoh”; pinyin marks a rising tone for sulfur (liú) and a falling tone for the pot (liù). The pot reading is associated with Liangzhou.
The anecdote collection 《雲仙雜記》, attributed to China’s Tang dynasty, includes 磂黃; later dictionaries preserve both readings. A font without 磂 may show a missing-glyph placeholder.
