What 稯 means
It records two historical counting systems. The form is shown in Qin-system slips and a Western Han Juyan slip, then preserved in the Shuowen tradition. Its practical job was accounting: a fixed unit for harvested grain and another for cloth thread. In the Zhuangzi passage, repetition gives 稯稯 the sense “gathered” or “crowded.”
Historical or philological; using it signals an exact or deliberately archaic choice.
For zongzi, send 粽—not 稯.

Don't confuse it with
1粽 / 糉 稯 vs 粽: 粽/糉 name the wrapped-rice food; some historical accounts connect that word to 稯’s bundle sense, but they are not safe modern substitutes.
Questions people ask
1Why does 稯 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
