What 篻 means
篻 names hard, solid-stemmed bamboo.
A poem from China’s Western Jin dynasty, Rhapsody on the Capital of Wu (《吴都赋》), pairs 篻 with 簩 among Wu bamboos. A Shaozhou gloss calls 篻竹 solid enough for crossbow bolts; another says bamboo from Jiuzhen or Jiaozhi could be made into spears.
Mandarin pinyin—the Latin-letter spelling—gives piǎo, roughly “pyao” with a dipping tone; the “bamboo growing” sense is biāo, roughly “byao” with a high, level tone.

Questions people ask
1Why does 篻 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
