What 粏 means
糂粏 names fermented rice-bran miso. The older spelling 糂汰 appears in the medieval Japanese essay Tsurezuregusa, in 糂汰瓶 (“a jar of the condiment”); a Japanese wordbook, 温故知新書, records 糂粏 in 1484. Some fonts give 粏 a different outline, but it remains the same character.
A specialized culinary character, usually met inside a food term.
For the complete food word, 糂粏 is clearer than 粏 alone.

Questions people ask
1Why does 粏 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
