What 粸 means
The dictionary classifies it among cakes or pastries. Its compact gloss, 餅屬, places it in that food category.
The Jiyun, an old Chinese dictionary arranged by rhyme, was compiled in 1037–39 and records the food gloss. The earlier Shuowen dictionary does not list 粸.
A study published in 2008 records 粸子 as a food word in dialogue from the late Yuan and early Ming periods in northern Mandarin.
It has a rare, dictionary-level feel, with associations to older or regional food vocabulary.
