What 紌 means

It names a kind of Shu brocade.

Yang Xiong's Western Han literary work Rhapsody on the Capital of Shu (蜀都賦) lists 紌 among named textiles. The sequence 紌繏𦃄䋶 is a list of textile names. Shu was a historic region associated with Sichuan.

The Kangxi Dictionary also records this textile sense.

A narrow classical textile term, suited to precise writing about brocade and textile history.

𬘕 is a simplified variant; exact-text matching still distinguishes it from 紌.

Why does 紌 show as a box on some devices?

Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
