What 緀 means
It denotes decorative silk, with a separate sewing sense.
The oldest dictionary source cited for 緀 is Shuowen Jiezi (《說文解字》), an early Chinese character dictionary: 糸 is the silk-thread component, while 妻 supplies the sound.
In the Book of Songs (《詩經》), patterned brocade becomes a metaphor for slander: small faults are woven into an elaborate accusation. The transmitted poem writes 萋; dictionaries also record 緀, the graph with the silk component.
A 2024 entry in Taiwan’s Ministry of Education dictionary cites Qing writer Pu Songling’s Riyong suzi (《日用俗字》), a text about everyday words, for the vernacular sense “sewing clothes.”
Classical and specialist; it fits source quotation or textile vocabulary, not casual decoration.
Sent alone, it will not reliably tell a reader which sense you intend.

Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
