What 繉 means
It is a rare form linked to the Chinese word for rope.
Chinese dictionaries link 繉 to 绳/繩, the rope word. 管子 lists 晁繉 among seasonal materials; the Kangxi dictionary glosses it “sew,” but a textual study argues that passage should read 晁黽繩. Older manuscripts and 说文解字, an early dictionary, attest 繩 for rope. 繉 may be a variant or a copying error.
Historical and philological, not a casual spelling.
Use 绳 or 繩 in ordinary Chinese.
