What 繿 means
It is a written variant of 襤 for clothing with unfinished edges. The Eastern Han text 方言, a book recording regional words, uses 襤 for clothing without a finished edge. 繿 uses the thread component 糸 where 襤 has 衣, the clothing component.
Medieval and later texts use 繿縷 for worn clothing. 襤褸 and 藍縷 carry the ragged-clothing sense into shabby dress; 藍縷 can also describe poor, makeshift work.
Archaic and bookish; its clothing meaning is clearest in 繿縷.
On its own, it can look like a typo to readers unfamiliar with the old clothing word.
