What 蓭 means
蓭 is a written variant of 庵 for a hut or small temple.
The earliest dated record of this spelling is in the Chinese dictionary Jiyun (集韻), from 1039 in China's Song dynasty; later dictionaries preserve it. Its meanings include a small Buddhist nunnery. Japanese references group 蓭 with 庵, whose readings include an (アン) and iori (いおり); iori means a hermit's hut.
Uncommon historical variant; 庵 is easier for general readers to recognize.
Use 庵 when readability for a broad audience matters.
