Chinese character 觨

觨 is a Chinese character glossed as “water on a cow’s horn”; Mandarin reads it hùn, roughly “hwen,” starting with the throat sound in “loch” and a falling tone. A Ming-dynasty dictionary, 字彙, records the gloss in 1615, and the Kangxi dictionary repeats it in 1716. A 2024 Taiwan Ministry of Education entry says 觨 is absent from 說文解字, an early Chinese dictionary; 角, the horn radical, indexes it.
