What 訣 means

Its 2024 Taiwan dictionary entry places 訣 outside the original 說文, an early Chinese character dictionary, in that work's new additions, with older farewell use shown in 史記, an early Chinese history.
Japanese keeps both tracks in 訣別, 永訣, 秘訣, and 要訣. Korean scholarship describes early Goryeo 口訣 as borrowed-character marks for reading Classical Chinese, later shifting from interpretation toward reading aloud.
