What 軆 means
軆 is a variant written form of 體, not a separate word.
In Chinese, 體 is the established form for words about the body, physical form, or the structure of a thing; 軆 is recorded as its variant. In Japanese, 体 is the standard modern kanji associated with older 體. Dictionaries do not give 軆 a separate modern sense.
One recorded example appears in a stone inscription, text carved into stone: 軆性温仁. Taiwan's Ministry of Education dictionary of variant characters also cites older Chinese character dictionaries: 玉篇, 干祿字書, 集韻 and 字彙. A Japanese account says 体 was used for 體 around the 12th–13th centuries and places 軆 and 躰 among forms in that change. The meaning stays in the body-and-form family; the writing and preferred standard forms change.
Should I use 軆 in modern writing?
Use the form your language or publication expects.
Use 體 in Traditional Chinese and 体 in ordinary Japanese. Keep 軆 when reproducing a source, preserving an original spelling, or deliberately choosing this historical variant.
If someone sends only 軆, read it first as a spelling in the 體 family. Ask for the surrounding text only if the message is still unclear.
Historical variant; it belongs to the 體 family and carries no separate modern sense.
