What 軏 means
軏 is the pin joining a small carriage’s shaft to its crossbar.
軏 appears in the Analects, a classical Chinese text, alongside 輗, the corresponding fitting on a larger ox-drawn cart. The trust metaphor in the Analects comes from a line: “大車無輗,小車無軏,其何以行之哉?”—“A large cart without 輗, a small cart without 軏: how could either move?” The passage compares a missing joint with a person lacking 信, or trustworthiness; that is the lesson, not 軏’s literal meaning.
An early Chinese dictionary, 說文解字, records 䡇 for the same carriage fitting; later references also list 䡇 as a variant of 軏.
Why does 軏 look different in fonts?
The character stays the same; regional fonts can change its shape.
Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and other CJK fonts may draw this same character in different regional styles. Unicode keeps the character identity; the font determines its visible shape. If it appears as a blank box, switch to a font that supports it.
Classical and specialized: a real carriage fitting used as an image for trust in the Analects.
The Analects uses it to picture trust; 軏 itself names the carriage part.
