What 軣 means
It is a Japanese abbreviated form of 轟.
The older character 轟 means a loud roar or rumble. The Shuowen Jiezi, an early Chinese dictionary, explains it as the sound of many carts in the Han era. In Japanese, 轟 can also describe thunder or explosive noise.
A Japanese typography study published in 2018 records 軣 as an abbreviation of 轟 in a mid-Muromachi dictionary manuscript and finds it spreading in later Muromachi sources. It is a compact writing form, not a separate sound effect.
What does 軣 mean when someone sends it?
On its own, it does not reveal the sender’s mood.
Read it as a reference to the written character. In a Japanese quotation it points to the abbreviated form; in a name, check the person’s preferred reading.
Context-heavy: it points to a Japanese abbreviated spelling or a name, not a particular emotion.
As a standalone reaction, it may leave readers unsure whether you mean the written form, a name, or a roar.
