What does 郂 mean?
郂 names a township in Chenliu.
The Shuowen Jiezi, an early Chinese dictionary, records 郂 as a township in Chenliu around 100 CE. Its documented use is as a place name, not a general everyday word.
Later dictionaries keep the place-name sense but record different Mandarin readings. Taiwan's Ministry of Education dictionary gives gāi, roughly like “k-eye” with a high, level pitch; Han Dian also gives hái, roughly like “high” with a soft throat h and a rising pitch, for an ancient settlement. These English sound hints are approximate.
Historical and dictionary-like; its documented meaning is a place name.
If 郂 arrives alone, ask whether the sender means a name or a historical reference.
