What 鋊 means
A charcoal hook for a cauldron fire. The earliest record is in the Han dynasty dictionary Shuowen Jiezi: 鋊 hooks the ears (side handles) of a ding, an ancient cooking cauldron, to lift furnace charcoal. 金 marks metal; 谷 links it to a sound-based character group.
The Han dynasty history Han Shu uses 鋊 for copper filings from coins. The later dictionaries also record metal worn smooth and an obsolete sense for beryllium.
In modern Chinese, 鋊 is rare and obsolete as a standalone character.
