What 鎝 means
A broad iron rake, an engraving verb, or technetium.
The Chinese dictionary 《正字通》 records 鎝 (鐵鎝) in 1671 as a broad iron rake for turning soil, described as more useful than 耜, another soil-working tool; the later dictionary 《康熙字典》 repeats the note. 金 marks metal; 荅 supplies the sound.
《集韻》 also gives “to engrave,” linked in 《康熙字典》 to 鈒. Taiwan uses 鎝 for technetium-99m; mainland Chinese writing uses 锝 (traditional 鍀).
