What 闿 means
It means “open,” especially in older Chinese.
The Shuowen Jiezi, a Chinese dictionary of character forms, glosses 闓 as “to open.” It treats 門 (“gate”) as the meaning-bearing part and 豈 as a clue to the sound.
A 1st-century CE passage in the Book of Han, an early Chinese history, uses 闓大關 for opening a major pass during a border negotiation.
Why are 闿 and 闓 different?
闿 is the simplified form of 闓.
This is a script distinction, not a change in sense: traditional 闓 keeps 門, while simplified 闿 uses 门.
闿 feels literary or historical; in routine modern Chinese it can read as archaic.

Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
