What 鰬 means
It is a classical name for a large fish. 《說文》, an early Chinese character dictionary, does not list it, while the Han-era work 《上林賦》 includes it in a fish list. 《廣雅》, another old Chinese dictionary, glosses it as a large fish; Wang Niansun's Qing-era commentary equates the gloss with 鱯. The Kangxi Dictionary compares it with an eel, and a Japanese dictionary gives large catfish as a gloss. These are historical descriptions, not one agreed modern species name.
It is a bookish fish term; in an ordinary message, it reads as obscure.
Do not treat one old gloss as a precise modern species label.
