What 鳘 means
鳘 is a sea-fish name, usually for 鮸. 鮸 is a coastal croaker; 鱼 marks the fish meaning, while 敏 hints at the reading. Some dictionaries also list 鰵 as a name for cod.
The early Chinese character dictionary 《说文解字》 records 鮸 around 100 CE. The 1008 rhyme dictionary 《广韵》, arranged by sound, glosses 鰵 as “sea fish.”
