What ⷭ means
Put it immediately after its Cyrillic base letter. The slovo-titlo is a combining mark: the preceding letter anchors it above the line. If it appears stranded, shifted, or overlapped, use a font that supports historical Cyrillic.
What was combining Cyrillic letter es used for?
It marked shortened words in Church Slavonic. A titlo is a mark used with abbreviations in older Cyrillic writing. This es-shaped member belongs to a set of small letters written above the main text to show that letters were omitted, saving space in manuscripts.
Old Church Slavonic manuscripts include translated religious texts, and this manuscript tradition is attested in the ninth and tenth centuries. Later Church Slavonic writing kept these contractions. The omitted letters can depend on the text and its spelling tradition, so the full word is not always obvious.
Why does combining Cyrillic letter es look different in different fonts?
Fonts choose how paired titlo letters sit together. They may place them side by side, join them, or stack them vertically; these layouts do not change the underlying characters. The preferred sequence for the composite es-te titlo is ⷭⷮ.
This mark belongs in Church Slavonic or historical Cyrillic text.
A lone ⷭ is an incomplete combining mark, not a complete letter.
