What Ⲱ means
It is a Coptic vowel used inside words. Also called Coptic omega, it is transliterated as Ô. Readings differ in Sahidic and Bohairic (Coptic dialects) and later traditions.
Old Coptic, an early Egyptian writing system, paired Greek letters with Demotic signs (from an older Egyptian script) for sounds Greek lacked. It served pronunciation glosses, ritual formulas, technical texts, and labels by the first century CE at latest. Standard Coptic grew from related forms in the fourth century, especially in Christian writing.

1Why does Ⲱ show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
