What ⳬ means
A cipher letter, read through a substitution alphabet.
Coptic writing combines Greek letters with additions from Demotic, an older Egyptian script. Coptic cryptography drew on Greek cipher methods and appears in prayers, scribal notes, graffiti, recipes, and talismanic inscriptions on pottery or stone.
ⳬ has a capital counterpart, Ⳬ. It is named for ordinary Coptic Shei ϣ but is separately encoded, not a decorative glyph variant. A font without Coptic coverage may show a box.

Questions people ask
1Why does ⳬ show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the Coptic block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
