What 𛰑 means
It marks one consonant in a shorthand outline.
Duployan grew from French shorthand: Aimé Paris revised Conen de Prépéan’s method in 1827. Duployé and his brother simplified it for faster writing and teaching reading by sound, publishing it in 1860. In 1890, Jean-Marie Lejeune adapted it as Chinuk pipa (“Chinook writing”), a full script for Chinook Jargon, a regional trade language, and several Indigenous languages of interior British Columbia. It appeared in the Kamloops Wawa newspaper from 1891–1923. This TH sign is shared across adaptations, so read it in its source system.
Duployan signs join into outlines; alone, TH hides those connections.
