What ⶨ means
It represents a syllable in Ethiopic writing.
Ethiopic is an abugida: each basic sign combines a consonant and a vowel. “Cca” is Unicode’s label for this character.
A 2004 Unicode proposal grouped the series with Bench, citing a 1982 Benchnon orthography and a 1990 Bench Bible sample. Monumental Proto-Geʽez writing is attested around the fourth to fifth centuries BCE; the Ethiopic abugida took shape around 350 CE. A 2025 Unicode identifier proposal also links ⶨ with Sebatbeit.
Why might ⶨ show as a box?
Your font may not cover the Ethiopic Extended block.
Basic Ethiopic coverage does not guarantee these additional signs. A missing-glyph box changes display, not the text character.

Questions people ask
1Why does ⶨ show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the Ethiopic Extended block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
