What ⶉ means
It writes a Me’en syllable inside a word.
The label nyoa identifies a syllabic entry in Me’en spelling, not a complete message by itself. In a written word, ⶉ contributes its syllable; the surrounding text carries the message.
Ethiopic writing began as a consonant script derived from South Arabian writing. The earliest writing found in Ethiopia and Eritrea includes pseudo-Sabaean inscriptions—texts in that consonant script—from the 8th/7th centuries BCE. An Ethiopian consonant alphabet for Ge’ez, an early Ethiopian language, appears in the 1st–3rd centuries CE; by the 4th century it had developed into an abugida, where a sign represents a consonant with a vowel, or just a consonant. Later extensions adapted the script for languages including Me’en.
How do I type ⶉ?
On the GFF Me’en keyboard, type capital Noa.
The GFF Me’en keyboard is phonetic: Latin-letter keys serve as sound cues. Its table maps capital Noa to ⶉ and lowercase noa to ⶈ; this keyboard uses case to distinguish two syllables.
On the GFF layout, Ctrl + Alt + Y opens its separate Unicode Keyboard for Ethiopic characters outside the Me’en layout. A keyboard controls what is entered; a font controls whether the extended Ethiopic glyph appears. If ⶉ displays as a box, the font may not cover it.
This is written syllabic text for Me’en; a lone ⶉ does not carry a full conversation message.
A blank box points to missing font coverage; it does not tell you the input failed.

The font may not include this extended Ethiopic glyph. The text can still contain ⶉ correctly; switching to a font with Ethiopic Extended coverage can make it visible.
