What 𝈁 means
It is the first altered form in a three-sign pitch group. Greek notation groups a base pitch with two alterations; “E” is a modern comparison label, and intervals varied by tuning.
A papyrus sheet (an ancient writing material) from the third or second century BCE preserves a chorus from Euripides’ tragedy Orestes, with vocal marks above lyrics and instrumental marks at line ends, recording melody beside text.
