What 𝈂 means
It marks a pitch inside a written ancient Greek melody. Vocal notation used letter-like signs for pitches; the Unicode chart glosses this one as “second sharp of E.” That is a catalog label, not an instruction to raise a modern E by a semitone.
The first surviving documents of ancient Greek written music date to the middle of the third century BC; by then, the notation system was established, though its earlier development is unclear. This sign also served instrumental notation. The notation appears in Graeco-Roman Egyptian papyri and in modern editions and studies. A 𝈂 box means the font in use lacks a glyph for it.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𝈂 show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the Ancient Greek Musical Notation block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
